                                                                                                                                         Students of BFSSS shone in 42st District Level Science Fair
Keeping the flag of BFSSS high, the students of school secured four prizes in 42st District Level Science Fair held at M.S.D. Sr. Sec. School, Bathinda on November 13, 2013.  Manjot Kaur & Amanveer Kaur, Ravneet Kaur & Mandeep Kaur, Lakhwinder Kaur & Navneet Kaur, Amanpreet Singh & Hardeepinder Singh got first prizes under the themes agriculture, resource, health & environment respectively.  Jasmeen Kaur & Harkomal secured third prize under the themes resource.  Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh congratulated the students and staff for their achievement.  S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFGI, also applauded the achievers and school for their efforts and achievements.

 Children Day Celebrated at BFSSS

Children Day was celebrated by BFSSS by Showing ‘Krish-3’ movie to the students in Big Cinemas, BTI. On this day, a speech was delivered by S.Baljinder Singh, Principal of BFSSS and students were also congratulated by Principal and staff. Chocolates were also distributed among the students. Students were very happy and they all discussed about the magic of science and message of truth and humanity which is delivered in the movie. Chairman, of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also gave his blessings to the students.

Blood Investigation and Blood pressure check up camp organized by BFSSS

BFSSS organized Blood Investigation and Blood Pressure check up camp. The function was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Ranpinder Sidhu (MBBS, Ex. PCMS, MS Surgery, FICS Infertility Specialist, Moga). During this camp blood investigation such as blood group, blood sugar level, Hb, malaria and blood clotting were done. The camp was organized by Mandeep Singh (HOD,Chemistry, BFSSS) and Ms. Manisha (HOD, Bio, BFSSS). The guidance was provided to the students by Daljit Singh and Jagvir Singh (Lect. in Bio, BFSSS). A Speech was also delivered by the chief guest to the students regarding motivating them and she admired the students for the excellent initiative taken by them to serve mankind & she also praised the school authorities as well as management for running the institution in a successful way. At the end she was honored by Director Admin Ms. Paramjeet Kaur Dhaiwal, Amitoz Dhaliwal, S.Baljinder Singh Principal, BFSSS and Vice Principal Ms. Navninder Kaur.

Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School students win laurels
                  in zonal level science fair

The students of BFSSS won 10 places at the zonal level competition of the Punjab School Education Board organised by N.C.E.R.T. These competitions were organised at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Gill Patti and there were total 200 modals from 80 schools. Out of which BFSSS secured 10 places. There were five sub-themes energy, agriculture, resources, environment and health under theme science and mathematical innovation. Lakhwinder Kaur & Ravneet Kaur got 1st position in the theme of health and resources. Manjot Kaur, Khushpreet Kaur, Amanpreet Singh and Jasmine Kaur secured 2nd position in agriculture, energy, environment and resources themes and 3rd position under agriculture, health, energy and environment themes were secured by Samardeep Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Sahibpreet Singh and Sukhan Chand. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh congratulated the students on their splendid success. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFGI also appreciated the students and staff for their achievements.

Punjab School Education Board organised cultural competitions which were held on 24th October, 2013. These competitions were held at Bathinda in different schools in which students of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School have taken part with great zeal. The cultural items Bhangra, Giddha, Play, Song, Speech secured 1st position and in Gatka students got 2nd position and in Kavishari they got 3rd position.
Principl S. Baljinder Singh congratulated, Madam Geeta Arora (Dean Students Welfare), Lect. Gurdass Sandhu (Co-ordinator Cultural Activities), all staff members of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School and students on their success.

Celebrations of N.S.S. Day at BFSSS

On 24th Sept., 2013 N.S.S. day was celebrated by the two N.S.S. units of BFSSS under the supervision of Mr. Jasvir Singh (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare Activities, BFSSS) and Mr. Gurdass Singh (Co-ordinator, Cultural Activities, BFSSS). On this occasion, Dr. Kawaljeet Singh Sidhu (Assistant Director, Social and Welfare Deptt., Bathinda), was the chief guest. A rally against drugs was also organised by N.S.S. volunteers at village Sivian. This rally started from BFSSS and the green flag to it was given by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Head of Institutions). The motive of this rally was to make the people and students aware about the ill effects of drugs. At the end of this occasion words of thanks were delivered by S. Baljinder Singh (Principal of BFSSS). Chairman of BFSSS S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal congratulated and appreciated the efforts of school and also encouraged the staff for organising such activities in future.



International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer Celebrated at BFSSS

At BFSSS, International day for preservation of ozone layer was celebrated on 16th Sept., 2013 under the theme ‘Protecting our atmosphere for generations to come’. On this occasion, valuable views were shared with the students of 10+1 Medical by Ms. Meenakshi (Lect. in Geography, BFC) on the above said topic. The main motive of the lecture was to make the students aware about the protection of ozone layer. The expert said that chlorofloro carbon should be minimised to reduce the depletion of ozone layer. Students also participated enthusiastically in the session and they asked questions and relevant answers were given by the expert. At the end, vote of thanks was delivered by Vice-Principal of BFSSS, Ms. Navninder Kaur. S. Baljinder Singh, Principal of BFSSS and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, chairman of BFSSS appreciated the efforts of staff for conducting such lectures.  


                                                                                                                            
             BFSSS Students Shone in District Level Children 
                                 Science Congress 2013

Students of BFSSS participated at District Level Children Science Congress 2013 Competition held  in S.S.D. Moti Ram Kanya Vidyalya, Bathinda. Students of 10+1 and 10+2 science stream named Mandeep Tayal, Sahilpreet Singh, Navdeep Singh, Amanpreet and Manpreet did survey in village Deon and prepared a presentation of the same. The theme of the presentation was energy conservation, explore and harness and the sub theme was energy resources and management. In the competition, the students got 3rd position. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal Chairman of BFGI, congratulated the students for their success and also encouraged them for participating in future also. 


Rakhi Making Competitions at BFSSS
Rakhi making competition was organised by BFSSS on 19th August, 2013. Students enthuastically participated in the competition and beautiful rakhi's were made by them. At the end, the results were announced and in this competition Simerjeet Kaur (+2 N.M.C) secured 1st position, Kuldeep Kaur (+1 Arts-A) 2nd position and Sandeep Kaur (+1 Med.-A) bagged 3rd position. Consolation prizes were given to Hirmaldeep Kaur, Pushpinder Kaur and Ravneet Kaur. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh congratulated the winner students and motivated them to take part in such activities. Chairman of BFSSS, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also appreciated the efforts of the school.














BFSSS organised one day N.S.S. Camp

One day N.S.S. Camp had been organised by BFSSS. During this camp, a visit was paid at Mahant Gurbanta Dass For Deaf and Dumb School, Bathinda. The In-charge of this activity was Jasvir Singh (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare, BFSSS). It proved very fruitful because a lot of things were learnt by the volunteers from the students of that school. Volunteers interacted with the physically challenged students and came to know about their problems and their life style. A speech was delivered by Ms. Maninder Bhalla, Principal of the school. She told the volunteers about the methods of teaching and different activities of the school. At the end of this camp, Volunteers were motivated by the Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh to enthuastically participated in social welfare activities. Chairman of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, also appreciated the efforts of the school.














                                                                                                                                               Food Making Without Fire Competition held at BFSSS

At BFSSS,  “Food Making Without Fire Competition” was organized by Commerce Club.  In this competition food was prepared by students within half an hour without fire.  Students participated enthuastically & the competition was so hard that even judges were confused.  Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI), Ms. Ranbir Kaur (Dean Student Welfare, BFC) & Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon (Vice Principal, BFSSS) were on the chairs of judges.  There were total 52 teams out of which four teams got positions & in each team there were two participants.  1st Position was secured by Arshdeep & Shikha of team No. 48 for preparing Mithi Lassi & Chocolate Balls, 2nd by Mandeep Kaur & Gurpreet Kaur of team No. 15 for Rice Pinni & Banana Shake, 3rd by Jasmeen & Ramandeep of team No. 18 for Moong Dal Chaat and Thandi Lassi and consolation prizes were given to Simran & Sandeep of team No. 19 for Banana Shake & Coconut Ladoo, Sahil Garg, Nikhil Gupta of team No. 31 for Jaljeera & Fruit Bhalla and consolation prizes were also given for preparing cup cake, fruit shake & rice balls to Harpreet Kaur & Parmeet Kaur of team No. 50.  At the end of this competition prizes were given to the winners. A vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon (Vice Principal, BFSSS).  S. Baljinder Singh (Principal, BFSSS) and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Chairman, BFGI) congratulated the winners and also appreciated the efforts done by school.

A tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh

A martyrdom day of Udham Singh was celebrated by BFSSS. At that occasion, a speech related to the great personality was delivered by Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director of Activities, BFGI). He shared his valuable views with students that the freedom that we are enjoying today is the result of sacrifice of such great personalities. To provide motivation to the students a lecture was also delivered by S. Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, (Admin. Officer, BFGI). Students also participated in different activities enthuastically. At the end, students were inspired by Chairman of BFGI, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, to became good and dutiful citizens. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and Vice-Principal, Ms. Navninder Kaur delivered the words of thanks to all the present members.

                          Talent Hunt Competition

BFSSS organized a Talent Hunt Contest for its students.  Students of 10+1 and 10+2 participated in the event.  Besides discovering talent, another objective of organizing the competitions was to promote creativity S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFSSS and Smt. Paramjeet Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Administration, BFGI were chief guests and Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI), Ms. Amritpal Kaur Sran (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare Department, BFGI), Ms. Rishamjot Kaur (Assist. Prof. in IT, BFCET), S. Baldeep Singh (Lect. in Music, BFC) and S. Gurmeet Singh (Computer Lab Instructor) were the judges.  Students participated in dance, skits, speech, kavishri, music and poetry contest.  Their giddha and bhangra performances cast a spell on the audience and judges, and then the singers enchanted the gathering.  In the end, words of congratulations to winner students were spoken by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFSSS and prize were distributed to winners.  He also appreciated the efforts of the Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and the whole staff.











Baba Farid Students Shone in Zonal Tournaments

Students of BFSSS shone in the PSEB zonal tournaments in displines like hockey, judo, football, badminton, baseball, fencing, kabaddi, cricket, handball, table-tennis, basketball, yoga, baseball, gatka, tug of war, shooting, kho-kho, gymnastics, wushu, wrestling, boxing, weight lifting, softball and gun shooting.
          In these tournaments, BFSSS students won 63 gold medals, 15 silver and 3 bronze medals. Students bagged the first position in football (girls), chess (girls and boys), badminton girls and boys), hockey (boys), doseball (girls and boys), fencing (boys), yoga (boys and girls), baseball (boys & girls), ball badminton (boys and girls), gatka (boys and girls), tug of war (boys and girls), shooting ball (boys and girls), kho-kho (boys and girls), gymnastics (girls), wushu (boys), wrestling (boys and girls), weightlifting (boys and girls). Arminder Singh, Akash Sharma, Harmanjot Kaur and Rajveer Kaur also got first position in gun shooting and Manpreet Kaur secured first position in Judo.
          Students bagged second position in softball (girls), table tennis (girls), handball (girls), cricket (boys), fencing (girls), football (boys), hockey (girls), kabaddi national and in wrestling and judo Satveer Kaur and Rajveer Kaur also got second positions.
          The School secured the third position in basketball (girls), table-tennis (boys) and in boxing Jaskaran Singh also got the third position.
          Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and Vice-Principal, Ms. Navninder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students. Chairman of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal congratulated the students on their success.

Anti Tobacco day was celebrated by BFSSS

Keeping in mind about the healthy society anti- tobacco day was celebrated by BFSSS. On the occasion Dr. Ajay Sahni (C.M.O., Bathinda), Dr. R. S. Randhawa (Distt. Health Officer) and Ms. Usha Singla (Media Officer) were the dignitaries who shared their views on drugs with the students of 10+1 Science and a warm welcome note was given by Mr. B. D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI). The students of BFSSS, Raminder Sharma, Ramneet Kaur and Navroop Kaur students of 10+2 presented their song, speech and poem respectively related to the subject. A presentation about drugs was presented by Dr. R. S. Randhawa and he also recited a poem on drugs. A speech was presented by Dr. Ajay Sahni (C.M.O., Bathinda). He told the students about the bad effects of drugs and a pledge ceremony was also organized by him for not using drugs. It is announced by the Principal of BFSSS that those students will be honoured who will aware their relatives, family members, friends, villagers or any person who is drug addicted for not using drugs.  At the end, the guest were honored by S. Harpal Singh (Deputy Director, Facility Management, BFGI, Mr. B. D. Sharma & Principal, BFSSS. Words of thanks were delivered by Principal of BFSSS, S Baljinder Singh. Chairman of BFGI, S Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also appreciated the efforts of school and also hope that the students will contribute for making society healthy.      
Summer camp organized at BFSSS

A summer camp was organized at BFSSS for making the summer vacation useful for the interested students. This camp was organized under the guidance of Ms. Rattanjot Kaur (Lect. in Arts & Craft) and total 20 students participated in this camp. During this camp Free hand painting on fabric, Stencil printing and block printing on T-shirt, Tie and Dye on T-shirt and Dupattas, Glass painting on looking mirror, Clay work on looking mirror, Yoga and Dance classes were held and for entertainment of students, a one day picnic trip was also managed. Students participated in this camp enthuastically and they also showed their keen interest in different activities. Principal BFSSS, Mr. Baljinder Singh motivated the student and faculty members for organizing such activities. Chairman of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also appreciated the efforts of school.
Seven Days N.S.S. camp organized by BFSSS

A seven days N.S.S. camp was organized by BFSSS at village Buladewala (District Bathinda) from 01-06-2013 to 07-06-2013 under the guidance of Mr. Jasvir Singh (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare, N.S.S. & N.C.C., BFSSS). A total of 50 students participated in the camp. During this camp various places of the village as Gurudwara Sahib, Temple, School, Streets, village other common places etc. cleaned by the students. On each day of the camp various activities were planned for the students. Student attended lectures by the various experts like Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director, Activities, BFGI), Mrs. Amritpal Kaur (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare, BFGI) and Mr. Baljinder Singh (Principal, BFSSS). People were made aware about the evils prevailing in our society. They also hold rally and pleaded the villagers to step forward to save environment, water, girl child and to say no to drugs. A stall of sweet water was also organized during the camp. At the last day of this camp felicitation ceremony was held at BFGI.Mr. Kamaljeet Singh Sidhu (Distt. Assistant Director, Youth Services) was the guest of honour.He provided medals to all N.S.S. volunteers. He also motivated and encouraged the students to participate in such activities in future also. S. Harpal Singh (Deputy Director, Facility Management, BFGI) and Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI), Vice Principal and HODs of various departments were also present in this ceremony. Chairman of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated the student as well as staff for organizing the camp. Principal of BFSSS, Mr. Baljinder Singh thanked all the guests and gave his blessings to the students.
 World Environment celebrated by BFSSS

The students of BFSSS celebrated Environment day by holding a rally at village Buladewala. The rally started from the village buladewala and went through the whole village. Sh. B.D. Sharma, S. Harpal Singh and Mr. Baljinder Singh inaugurated the procession by waving a green flag. The students were holding various placards on which slogans were written. The students also made the people aware about saving the environment. A stall serving sweet water was also installed near Gurudwara . Principal Mr. Baljinder Singh motivated the students as well as staff and hope that such activities will be organized on regular basis in future as well. Chairman BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated the efforts for organizing such activities.

BFSSS Organizes Extension Lecture of Punjabi
BFSSS organized an extension lecture for its students on 15th May, 2013. S. Kulwinder Singh (Vice Principal, BFCE) was invited to deliver the lecture on the topic “Relation of literature with moral values”.   S. Kulwinder Singh initiated the lecture with the basis of the topic and he explained the topic in depth. In the lecture, he included the live examples. He solved all the queries of the students to make sure that the topic was clear to them. Mr. Baljinder Singh and HOD Punjabi Mr. Jaswinder Singh thanked S. Kulwinder Singh for sharing his views with the students. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFGI, also appreciated the efforts of Punjabi Deptt. on organizing the lecture.
 
   Painting and Collage Making Competitions in BFSSS

BFSSS conducted a Painting and Collage Making Competition for the students of 10+1 and 10+2 classes. All the students enthusiastically participated in these competitions. All the participants demonstrated their creativity through various collage and paintings. The students painted awesome pictures. Students also wrote various quotations on their creations. In the paintings competition. Harmeet Bhogal (10+2 Commerce), Navtej Singh (10+2 N.M.-B), Sandeep Kaur (10+1 Medical-A), Hirmaldeep Kaur (10+2 NM-C) and Sandeep Kaur (10+1 NM-B) bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th positions respectively. In the same way positions were also announced in collage making Competition. In this Dalima & Ashmita (10+2 Medical-A), Rajbir & Gurbinder (10+2 Medical-A), Prabhjot Kaur (10+1 Medical-B), Jashan jot Kaur (10+1 NM-B) and Simranjeet Kaur (10+1 NM-A) got first five positions respectively. S. Baljinder Singh, Principal of BFSSS motivated the students for taking participation in such type of competitions which will be organized in future as well. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFGI also appreciated the art of students and the efforts of faculty memebers.

BFSSS Students got gold in 'Idea Cup'


Students of BFSSS are performing excellently in all fields whether it is academics or sports. An Idea cup on District level was organized by Idea Company at Police Public School, Bathinda on 12,13 December, 2012. Various sports were held under this. The students of the school participated in Athleties and Judo championship. 2 students of BFSSS Kuljeet Grover and Mandeep got first position by bagging gold medal in Judo championship. The victorious students were congratulated by the Principal of the school Mr. Baljinder Singh on their marvelous victory. Managing Director, BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also expressed his happiness on this achievement by the students and hope that the students of BFSSS will continue excelling in every field.

An extension lecture in Maths conducted by BFSSS


An extension lecture of Maths on the topic "Conic Section" was conducted on 19-12-2012 by BFSSS. Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur (Assistant Professor, BFC, Deon) was the expert who enlightened the knowledge of students about the topic. This lecture really proved fruitful for the students and they also asked a number of questions which were answered on the spot by the expert. At the end the guest of the day was honored by Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon, Vice Principal, BFSSS and HOD Maths, Ms. Rajwinder Kaur. Hon'ble Managing Director, BFGI S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated Principal S. Baljinder Singh & all the staff members of school for such kind of efforts and motivated them to conduct such lectures in future also.


BFSSS Student held school's flag high in P.S.E.B. competition

State Level P.S.E.B. competitions were held at Khalsa Sr. Sec. School, S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali. The students of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School, Deon participated in Poem Recitation, Giddha, Speech competitions, Kavishari and performed well. Kavishari(‘Bahattar Kala Shand’) team got second position in Punjab State under the kind supervision of Mr. Gurdass Singh Sandhu (Lect.in Punjabi) and Giddha team got third position in the competition under the kind guidance of Ms. Tanminder Pal Kaur (Lect. In Physics). In Speech competition Veerman Kaur Mann got third position under the supervision of Ms. Anita Sharma (Lect. In Punjabi). Principal S. Baljinder Singh gave his heartiest congratulations to the winners and encouraged them to gain great success in future. The Managing Director of BFGI S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also provided his heartiest felicitations to the students, teachers and the parents of winners.
