Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School students win laurels
                  in zonal level science fair

The students of BFSSS won 10 places at the zonal level competition of the Punjab School Education Board organised by N.C.E.R.T. These competitions were organised at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Gill Patti and there were total 200 modals from 80 schools. Out of which BFSSS secured 10 places. There were five sub-themes energy, agriculture, resources, environment and health under theme science and mathematical innovation. Lakhwinder Kaur & Ravneet Kaur got 1st position in the theme of health and resources. Manjot Kaur, Khushpreet Kaur, Amanpreet Singh and Jasmine Kaur secured 2nd position in agriculture, energy, environment and resources themes and 3rd position under agriculture, health, energy and environment themes were secured by Samardeep Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Sahibpreet Singh and Sukhan Chand. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh congratulated the students on their splendid success. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFGI also appreciated the students and staff for their achievements.

Punjab School Education Board organised cultural competitions which were held on 24th October, 2013. These competitions were held at Bathinda in different schools in which students of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School have taken part with great zeal. The cultural items Bhangra, Giddha, Play, Song, Speech secured 1st position and in Gatka students got 2nd position and in Kavishari they got 3rd position.
Principl S. Baljinder Singh congratulated, Madam Geeta Arora (Dean Students Welfare), Lect. Gurdass Sandhu (Co-ordinator Cultural Activities), all staff members of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School and students on their success.

Celebrations of N.S.S. Day at BFSSS

On 24th Sept., 2013 N.S.S. day was celebrated by the two N.S.S. units of BFSSS under the supervision of Mr. Jasvir Singh (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare Activities, BFSSS) and Mr. Gurdass Singh (Co-ordinator, Cultural Activities, BFSSS). On this occasion, Dr. Kawaljeet Singh Sidhu (Assistant Director, Social and Welfare Deptt., Bathinda), was the chief guest. A rally against drugs was also organised by N.S.S. volunteers at village Sivian. This rally started from BFSSS and the green flag to it was given by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Head of Institutions). The motive of this rally was to make the people and students aware about the ill effects of drugs. At the end of this occasion words of thanks were delivered by S. Baljinder Singh (Principal of BFSSS). Chairman of BFSSS S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal congratulated and appreciated the efforts of school and also encouraged the staff for organising such activities in future.



International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer Celebrated at BFSSS

At BFSSS, International day for preservation of ozone layer was celebrated on 16th Sept., 2013 under the theme ‘Protecting our atmosphere for generations to come’. On this occasion, valuable views were shared with the students of 10+1 Medical by Ms. Meenakshi (Lect. in Geography, BFC) on the above said topic. The main motive of the lecture was to make the students aware about the protection of ozone layer. The expert said that chlorofloro carbon should be minimised to reduce the depletion of ozone layer. Students also participated enthusiastically in the session and they asked questions and relevant answers were given by the expert. At the end, vote of thanks was delivered by Vice-Principal of BFSSS, Ms. Navninder Kaur. S. Baljinder Singh, Principal of BFSSS and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, chairman of BFSSS appreciated the efforts of staff for conducting such lectures.  


                                                                                                                            
             BFSSS Students Shone in District Level Children 
                                 Science Congress 2013

Students of BFSSS participated at District Level Children Science Congress 2013 Competition held  in S.S.D. Moti Ram Kanya Vidyalya, Bathinda. Students of 10+1 and 10+2 science stream named Mandeep Tayal, Sahilpreet Singh, Navdeep Singh, Amanpreet and Manpreet did survey in village Deon and prepared a presentation of the same. The theme of the presentation was energy conservation, explore and harness and the sub theme was energy resources and management. In the competition, the students got 3rd position. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal Chairman of BFGI, congratulated the students for their success and also encouraged them for participating in future also. 


Rakhi Making Competitions at BFSSS
Rakhi making competition was organised by BFSSS on 19th August, 2013. Students enthuastically participated in the competition and beautiful rakhi's were made by them. At the end, the results were announced and in this competition Simerjeet Kaur (+2 N.M.C) secured 1st position, Kuldeep Kaur (+1 Arts-A) 2nd position and Sandeep Kaur (+1 Med.-A) bagged 3rd position. Consolation prizes were given to Hirmaldeep Kaur, Pushpinder Kaur and Ravneet Kaur. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh congratulated the winner students and motivated them to take part in such activities. Chairman of BFSSS, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal also appreciated the efforts of the school.














BFSSS organised one day N.S.S. Camp

One day N.S.S. Camp had been organised by BFSSS. During this camp, a visit was paid at Mahant Gurbanta Dass For Deaf and Dumb School, Bathinda. The In-charge of this activity was Jasvir Singh (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare, BFSSS). It proved very fruitful because a lot of things were learnt by the volunteers from the students of that school. Volunteers interacted with the physically challenged students and came to know about their problems and their life style. A speech was delivered by Ms. Maninder Bhalla, Principal of the school. She told the volunteers about the methods of teaching and different activities of the school. At the end of this camp, Volunteers were motivated by the Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh to enthuastically participated in social welfare activities. Chairman of BFGI, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, also appreciated the efforts of the school.














                                                                                                                                               Food Making Without Fire Competition held at BFSSS

At BFSSS,  “Food Making Without Fire Competition” was organized by Commerce Club.  In this competition food was prepared by students within half an hour without fire.  Students participated enthuastically & the competition was so hard that even judges were confused.  Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI), Ms. Ranbir Kaur (Dean Student Welfare, BFC) & Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon (Vice Principal, BFSSS) were on the chairs of judges.  There were total 52 teams out of which four teams got positions & in each team there were two participants.  1st Position was secured by Arshdeep & Shikha of team No. 48 for preparing Mithi Lassi & Chocolate Balls, 2nd by Mandeep Kaur & Gurpreet Kaur of team No. 15 for Rice Pinni & Banana Shake, 3rd by Jasmeen & Ramandeep of team No. 18 for Moong Dal Chaat and Thandi Lassi and consolation prizes were given to Simran & Sandeep of team No. 19 for Banana Shake & Coconut Ladoo, Sahil Garg, Nikhil Gupta of team No. 31 for Jaljeera & Fruit Bhalla and consolation prizes were also given for preparing cup cake, fruit shake & rice balls to Harpreet Kaur & Parmeet Kaur of team No. 50.  At the end of this competition prizes were given to the winners. A vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Navninder Kaur Dhillon (Vice Principal, BFSSS).  S. Baljinder Singh (Principal, BFSSS) and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Chairman, BFGI) congratulated the winners and also appreciated the efforts done by school.

A tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh

A martyrdom day of Udham Singh was celebrated by BFSSS. At that occasion, a speech related to the great personality was delivered by Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director of Activities, BFGI). He shared his valuable views with students that the freedom that we are enjoying today is the result of sacrifice of such great personalities. To provide motivation to the students a lecture was also delivered by S. Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, (Admin. Officer, BFGI). Students also participated in different activities enthuastically. At the end, students were inspired by Chairman of BFGI, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, to became good and dutiful citizens. Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and Vice-Principal, Ms. Navninder Kaur delivered the words of thanks to all the present members.

                          Talent Hunt Competition

BFSSS organized a Talent Hunt Contest for its students.  Students of 10+1 and 10+2 participated in the event.  Besides discovering talent, another objective of organizing the competitions was to promote creativity S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFSSS and Smt. Paramjeet Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Administration, BFGI were chief guests and Sh. B.D. Sharma (Deputy Director Activities, BFGI), Ms. Amritpal Kaur Sran (Co-ordinator, Social Welfare Department, BFGI), Ms. Rishamjot Kaur (Assist. Prof. in IT, BFCET), S. Baldeep Singh (Lect. in Music, BFC) and S. Gurmeet Singh (Computer Lab Instructor) were the judges.  Students participated in dance, skits, speech, kavishri, music and poetry contest.  Their giddha and bhangra performances cast a spell on the audience and judges, and then the singers enchanted the gathering.  In the end, words of congratulations to winner students were spoken by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of BFSSS and prize were distributed to winners.  He also appreciated the efforts of the Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh and the whole staff.











Baba Farid Students Shone in Zonal Tournaments

Students of BFSSS shone in the PSEB zonal tournaments in displines like hockey, judo, football, badminton, baseball, fencing, kabaddi, cricket, handball, table-tennis, basketball, yoga, baseball, gatka, tug of war, shooting, kho-kho, gymnastics, wushu, wrestling, boxing, weight lifting, softball and gun shooting.
          In these tournaments, BFSSS students won 63 gold medals, 15 silver and 3 bronze medals. Students bagged the first position in football (girls), chess (girls and boys), badminton girls and boys), hockey (boys), doseball (girls and boys), fencing (boys), yoga (boys and girls), baseball (boys & girls), ball badminton (boys and girls), gatka (boys and girls), tug of war (boys and girls), shooting ball (boys and girls), kho-kho (boys and girls), gymnastics (girls), wushu (boys), wrestling (boys and girls), weightlifting (boys and girls). Arminder Singh, Akash Sharma, Harmanjot Kaur and Rajveer Kaur also got first position in gun shooting and Manpreet Kaur secured first position in Judo.
          Students bagged second position in softball (girls), table tennis (girls), handball (girls), cricket (boys), fencing (girls), football (boys), hockey (girls), kabaddi national and in wrestling and judo Satveer Kaur and Rajveer Kaur also got second positions.
          The School secured the third position in basketball (girls), table-tennis (boys) and in boxing Jaskaran Singh also got the third position.
